The Boating Lake Park (officially called Central Recreation Grounds but this name is rarely used) is a large public park in CwmbranCwmbran (Welsh: Cwmbrân) is a new town in southern Wales, established in the 1950s to provide new employment in the south eastern portion of the South Wales Coalfield. There are in fact two lakes, the larger being home to various wetland birds and the smaller being the actual boating one. The park is bordered by the Afon LlwydAfon Llwyd is a small river in South Wales which flows from its source north of Blaenavon, through Abersychan, Pontypool and Cwmbran before flowing into the River Usk at Caerleon, which subsequently flows into the Bristol Channel in Newport. The name is Welsh, meaning "Grey River".Afon Llwyd on one side and a railway line on the other.

The park is quite expansive and includes a large adventure playground, a skate park and various sports pitches. The northern end of the park is in the Cwmbran suburb of Southville, whereas the southern end is in LlanyrafonLlanyrafon (English: Church by the River, sometimes known as Llanyravon) is a suburb of Cwmbran in the county borough of Torfaen, traditional county of Monmouthshire,Wales. It lies to the east of the Afon Llwyd, west of the A4042 dual carriageway and south of Croesyceiliog.
